"There's no success like failure and failure's no success at all": Some critical reflections on understanding the global growth of camera surveillance
Clive Norris (Department of Sociological Studies, The University of Sheffield, UK)
Professor Norris is concerned with understanding how the outcomes of social control are shaped by an interaction of law, formal organisational rules, and the organisational/operational cultures found in different contexts. His research on closed circuit television (CCTV) includes a comparative study of the operation of CCTV in seven European capitals (Berlin, Budapest, Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Oslo and Vienna).
